We have sailed far. Reflected lights keep blinding us. Clouds make us lose our bearings. At night, we navigate by constellations.
Routes of ages have carved deep into the earth. Empires rise and fall. Ruins remain like scars. I no longer measure in distances but nearness.
I stood at the feet of Khufu and Khafre, sailed the Swahili coast, came as far as the land of the long white cloud.
And all along I found lights that never go out.
Look closely, they answer one another, even across oceans and generations.
Light moves and time unfolds.
In between, we drift until discovery.
The world has no top, no core, no anchor.
The world radiates.
Lying on my back in the sand with the sound of rolling waves, I’m floating on a memory. The sky is full of stars.
The foolish divide the earth.
The wise join the heavens.
